Analysis of Development Status and Market trend of Valve Industry in 2023

The supply of valves in the nuclear power industry is a demand in the current valve industry market, and suppliers in the valve industry should seize the opportunity to meet the demand for valves in the development of the nuclear power industry.

The position of the nuclear power industry in China's energy structure is gradually improving. According to data from the National Energy Administration, the installed capacity and power generation of nuclear power in China are significantly increasing. The cumulative installed capacity of nuclear power in China in 2021 was 53.26 million kilowatts, with a CAGR of 16.64% from 2000 to 2021; In 2021, nuclear power generated 407.141 billion kilowatt hours, with a CAGR of 16.41% from 2020 to 2021. At the same time, the importance of the nuclear power industry in the energy system is also constantly increasing. In 2021, the installed capacity of nuclear power accounted for 2.24% of the total installed capacity, an increase of 1.58 pct compared to 2000. In 2021, the power generation of the nuclear power industry accounted for 5.26% of the total power generation, an increase of 4.02 pct compared to 2000 data. 1684683656394424.jpg

1. The high hours of equipment utilization in the nuclear power industry play a role as a ballast in the energy system.

Compared to green energy sources such as wind power, photovoltaic power, and hydropower, the stability characteristics of nuclear power generation are higher and more significant, which also makes it fully play a practical role as a ballast in the energy system. According to data from the National Energy Administration, the average utilization hours of thermal power, nuclear power, hydropower, and wind power equipment in 2021 were 4448/7802/3622/2232 hours, respectively. The data clearly shows that the utilization hours of nuclear power equipment are higher, higher than other industry data.

2. Looking at the international market, more and more countries are turning towards a more positive attitude towards nuclear power.

Since the 2011 Fukushima nuclear power leakage accident in Japan, many countries in the international community have raised doubts about nuclear safety. Germany, as the largest economy in the European Union, announced early on that it will phase out nuclear energy as soon as possible and repeatedly called on other countries in the European Union to abandon the nuclear power industry. During the 2021 United Nations Climate Change Conference, Germany, together with Luxembourg, Denmark, Portugal, and Austria, formed an "anti nuclear" alliance, believing that the nuclear power industry does not meet the EU's positioning and regulations for "non significant harm" energy resources, and therefore should not be included in the EU's framework for "green economy" development. However, under the dual incentive of the impact of the "Energy crisis" in Europe and the goal of "carbon neutrality" since the autumn and winter of 2020, many countries have begun to turn positive again towards nuclear power since 2022. The then President of France announced in February that he would invest over 360 billion yuan to build at least six new reactors in the coming decades, thus officially restarting the nuclear power program. Russia, Brazil, South Korea, the UK, India and other countries have also expressed their willingness to vigorously develop the nuclear power industry in the future. The nuclear power industry in the international community has entered a period of development.

3. The approval of domestic nuclear power plants is accelerating, and the nuclear power value system will undergo a reassessment.

In 2019, China's nuclear power approval was restarted, ending the three-year state of zero approval. In April 2022, the Executive Meeting of the State Council clearly stated that the nuclear power industry should be developed in an orderly manner under the premise of strict supervision and ensuring absolute safety. Approve the three new nuclear power unit projects in Sanmen, Zhejiang, Haiyang, Shandong, and Lufeng, Guangdong that have undergone comprehensive evaluation and review and have been included in national planning. It is reported that each of these three nuclear power industry projects involves two units, resulting in a total of six units. This is also the first time since 2008 that China has approved a 6-unit project, which is an important measure to implement the national policy of 'actively, safely, and orderly development of nuclear power'. At the same time, this move fully demonstrates the country's positive and optimistic attitude towards the development of the nuclear power industry, and these measures are expected to promote the revaluation of the value system of the nuclear power industry. 1685491933157945.jpg

The restart of nuclear power projects means that the accompanying valves in the nuclear power industry also need to restart supply demand. CNNC and its agents should fully seize this opportunity.
